Former Arsenal striker Robin van Persie taunted his former club by saying that he knew that he will win trophies the moment he left Arsenal. The striker recently managed to lift his first league title in England after getting Manchester United to their 20th league title. Van Persie has been one of the main reasons for United winning the title this season. His 23 goals in the league alone have been a major factor. Defender Patrice Evra has further taunted Arsenal by claiming that van Persie was right to join United. The striker spent eight seasons at the London club, but he was unable to lift any major trophy.
As for several other Arsenal players who have left the club in the past, van Persie has been able to lift the league title almost immediately. Ashley Cole, Cesc Fabregas, and Samir Nasri are some of the names to have won the league title immediately after leaving Arsenal. Arsenal have not won a major trophy for the last eight seasons, while it is increasingly becoming difficult for even finishing in the top four itself. The club are expected to finally spend big in the summer in the hope of ending this trophy drought, which could cause more players to depart.
“He showed them that he hasn’t made the wrong choice. It was a long time that he didn’t win the league. He has come to Manchester United and won the league. He did a good job for Arsenal and I was really disappointed for him. I think he felt it as well. To take that penalty he showed what a world-class, top player he is. He kept his nerves down to score that penalty and I am happy for him. I don’t know but he will not sign them,” said Evra.

The English football Association have confirmed that the Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has not accepted the misconduct charge imposed upon him after his criticisms of the linesman in the 1-1 draw with Tottenham earlier in the season. The linesman failed to award the penalty for Manchester United after the star striker Wayne Rooney was apparently brought down in the box according to the manager Ferguson. He pointed out to the previous incidents with the linesman, which includes the failure to spot a clear offside on the striker Didier Drogba’s goal back in 2010. It proved to be the deciding factor in the season’s title race back then.
As a result of the criticism of the linesman, the FA decided to impose a misconduct charge on Ferguson. The Manchester United manager has been subjected to several misconduct charges over the years, while he was recently given a suspended sentence. Ferguson has confirmed that he will be contesting the decision, but has expressed his between the way that the situation has become very personal. Due to the fact that Manchester United are one of the biggest clubs in the world, the FA are consistently bringing the club to the spotlight through such incidents.
“It is alleged the Manchester United manager breached FA Rule E3 in that he implied that the match official was motivated by bias. Ferguson has requested a paper hearing, the date of which will be set in due course. It was a clear decision. Sir Alex Ferguson has denied an FA charge of misconduct in relation to post-match media comments made following Manchester United’s game at Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday 20 January 2013,” said the statement on the FA official website. Ferguson has said that the FA are no longer concerned about what he said, but it is the person that matters to them.

Second place Manchester City (1/4) host Fulham (13/1) at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon, hoping to close the gap between themselves and leaders Manchester United to four points.
Roberto Mancini’s men have won five of their last six league games, whilst their opponents have taken maximum points just twice from their last fourteen.
Out of form Newcastle United (4/5) host a resurgent Reading (4/1) side at St. James Park, with both sides aiming to escape the clutches of the bottom three.
After losing seven straight league games, 19th place Reading have now picked up seven points from the last twelve available, while Newcastle, who sit just two places and two points above the relegation zone, have just one win in their last seven.
Swansea City (5/4) host a Stoke City (3/1) side one point and one place below them in the table.
Michael Laudrop’s men are unbeaten in seven league games, whilst the visitors go in to the match having suffered back to back league defeats for the first time this season.
Harry Redknapp takes bottom of the table Queen’s Park Rangers (14/5) to his former club West Ham United (11/10) knowing defeat could see them eight points from safety.
The Hammers have just one win in their last six games, though victory could see them break into the top half of the table.
Fourteenth place Sunderland (14/5) travel to a Wigan Athletic (6/5) side who are out of the relegation as they have a superior goal difference to Aston Villa (4/1), who go to West Midlands rivals West Bromwich Albion (20/23) in the late kick off.

The Manchester United defender Patrice Evra has said that he would be interested in joining the French club Paris St Germain only after walking over the dead body of the Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson. Patrice Evra has been the surprise target for the French club Paris St Germain this season. Even though they had been linked with the Chelsea defender Ashley Cole – who is out of contract at the end of the season, Evra has been the surprise transfer targets in recent weeks. The 32-year-old Frenchman is coming to the twilight of his career, but he is regarded as one of the most experienced having been playing at the top level for a long time.
He has been part of the Manchester United set up since 2006 and he has won every major title there is to win with the club including Champions League titles as well. He has just more than six months left on his current contract, which have led to rumours that he will join the French club Paris St Germain at the end of the season. He will has said that he has a lot of respect for PSG along with Monaco. He has also said that it was extremely painful to see the club not win the title is so far.
“You would have to kill Ferguson before bringing me to Paris. For now, there is nothing to do. I have a year left on my contract. I am at Manchester United. I am captain and I am happy. I have never hidden my love of Paris, even though Monaco is still my team. It has always pained me to see the club not win the title or qualify for the Champions League,” said the former Monaco defender in an interview given to the Canal Plus.

The Manchester United defender Patrice Evra has said that the rivals should be warned of the return to form of Manchester United. The club recently secured the top spot in the Premier league from the hands of the European champions Chelsea following the 3-2 win at Stamford Bridge. This has given them a slender one-point advantage over Chelsea. Even though this is extremely insignificant at this stage in the season, Patrice Evra has said that the way Manchester United managed to close a four point deficit and create an one-point advantage shows their superiority.
Patrice Evra played an important role in the 2-1 win over Arsenal last weekend that helped Manchester United go top of the table. Patrice Evra was challenged by the Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere in a harsh manner, which led to the dismissal of the England international. After the match, the French defender spoke about the strength in depth that Manchester United have when it comes to both players and quality. Arsenal were extremely overshadowed in the match by Manchester United, and the one goal they scored through Santi Cazorla was only a mere consolation. Patrice Evra reckons that the club can only improve as the season progresses.
“It has been a terrific week, we are really happy. It is just the expectations are so high. You win at Liverpool, at Chelsea and against Arsenal – I don’t think we did that last year – and that is why I think the team know we have the potential and the quality to win the league. Just why we are not happy is because we should score more goals. In the end it has been a terrific week for Man United, don’t get me wrong,” said Patrice Evra to the official website of the club after the Arsenal match.
